A new website, "Welcome to the Country," has been launched to connect domestic and foreign travelers by creating and running a social media campaign for Gadsden, Alabama's largest tourist attraction. Hardins offers visitors access to a wide range of events and activities in the city centre. Visitors can enjoy a variety of food and drink, live entertainment and live music at the annual event in June, which also includes a children's festival with crafts.

Baine County was founded by the Parliament in 1867 after the American Civil War, but was dissolved and incorporated as Etowah County, with Gadsden becoming the county seat. At the 1868 Constitutional Congress, the new legislature dissolved Baines County and renamed it Etowsah County, and Gadden was incorporated at the 1869 Congress. In 1871, it was founded as an independent county in the state of Alabama, but retained its seat; in 1861 Tuscaloosa County was founded in response to the secession of the United States from the Confederate States of America. There used to be a separate county for the town of GADDEN, which was abolished on 3 December 1867, and for the town of Dixie.

The Hughes brothers proposed renaming the city after Lafferty's landing, and Gadsden was embraced by residents. Gadden took the name of Colonel James GADDEN of the US Army, who later became famous when he negotiated the purchase of Mexico.
